FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything we're asked most often about buying, certifying, shipping, and returning a natural gemstone.

Buying & Ordering

Why should I buy from EmeraldVault?

Because everything we sell is verifiable. Every emerald is a certified natural stone with an independent GIA, IGI, or GRS report you can check online before paying; every order passes an individual quality verification before dispatch; packaging is secure and insured; and if anything falls short, our return window covers you without questions. We'd rather earn trust through documentation than ask for it through marketing.

Do you keep emeralds in stock, or is everything made to order?

Both. We keep a curated selection of certified stones photographed and ready for verification and dispatch, and we also source to your exact brief (carat, origin, budget) when you need something specific. Either way, every stone is independently certified and individually quality-verified before dispatch, and the buying experience is identical from your side.

How long does it take to receive my emerald after ordering?

Every order — in-stock or made-to-request — typically arrives within 6–8 business days of confirmation, covering sourcing, quality verification, and insured courier transit. See our full Shipping Policy for details.

Can I request a specific carat weight for astrological purposes?

Yes — this is one of our most common requests. Tell us the exact weight your astrologer recommended (e.g., 5.25 carats) in your enquiry, and we'll shortlist certified stones meeting that requirement.

Do you offer payment plans or EMI?

For higher-value stones, EMI is available through supported credit cards at checkout, subject to your bank's terms. Contact us before ordering if you'd like to confirm EMI eligibility for a specific stone.

Can I see additional photos or a video of the exact stone before I buy?

Yes — email or WhatsApp us the product name or SKU and we'll send additional angles, a video, or arrange a live video call for higher-value stones.

Are all natural emeralds identical?

No — and that's the point. Every natural emerald is a one-of-a-kind object with its own colour, clarity character, and inclusions (its 'jardin'). Two stones of the same carat weight can differ enormously in appearance and value. That uniqueness is why each listing carries its own lab certificate, and why we verify each specific stone against its documentation before dispatch.

Can I see the exact stone before dispatch?

Where the listing shows the exact photographed stone, what you see is what ships. Where imagery is representative (clearly noted on the listing), we share photos or video of the actual stone during the confirmation process wherever possible — just ask. In every case, the stone that ships matches the specifications and certificate confirmed with your order.

Certification & Authenticity

How do I know the emerald is genuine?

Three independent layers: the lab certificate (GIA, IGI, or GRS — verifiable on the lab's own website by report number), our pre-dispatch verification that physically matches the stone to that certificate, and your return window after delivery, during which you're free to have any independent gemologist examine the stone. A genuine seller has nothing to fear from verification — we encourage it.

Will I receive a certificate with my emerald?

Yes — every certified emerald ships with its original independent lab report (GIA, IGI, or GRS), and we share the report number before you pay so you can verify it on the lab's website first. The certificate is yours to keep; it documents the stone's identity, weight, dimensions, and treatment level for life.

Are all EmeraldVault emeralds natural?

Yes. We only sell natural emerald (beryl), never synthetic, lab-created, or simulant material. This is independently confirmed on every lab certificate.

What does 'oiled' or 'treated' mean, and is it a red flag?

Minor oiling (filling natural surface-reaching fractures with colorless oil or resin) is standard, globally accepted practice for the vast majority of commercial emeralds, and is not a defect — it's a disclosed characteristic. What matters is that it's disclosed, which every EmeraldVault certificate does explicitly.

Which labs do you use for certification?

Primarily GIA, IGI, and GRS, chosen per stone based on value and whether origin documentation is relevant. See our full Certification page for details on each lab.

How do I verify my certificate is genuine?

Use the report number on your certificate with the issuing lab's own online verification tool. Full instructions are on our Certification page.

How is quality verified before dispatch?

Every order goes through the same pre-dispatch checklist: the stone is checked against its advertised specifications, physically matched to its lab certificate, inspected for quality and condition, securely packed in tamper-evident packaging, and the complete shipment is reviewed once more before courier handover. Nothing ships unchecked.

Shipping & Delivery

Why does delivery take a few days?

Because quality verification is part of every purchase. Each natural emerald is individually checked against its specifications and certificate before dispatch, and then travels by insured courier — the whole journey typically takes 6–8 business days. We'd rather ship a verified stone a day later than an unchecked one a day earlier; your delivery estimate is always shown clearly before you order.

Do you ship internationally?

Not currently — we ship only within India for now, via insured domestic courier to every serviceable pin code. We're focused on serving Indian customers well before expanding further.

Is my package insured during transit?

Yes, every shipment is insured for its full invoice value until it's signed for at delivery.

Returns & Warranty

What is your return policy?

7 days from delivery, no questions asked, for loose stones in original condition with certificate. See our full Return & Refund Policy for exceptions around custom-set jewellery.

What if the stone doesn't match its certificate?

That's on us. Contact us immediately — we cover return shipping in full and expedite your refund or replacement.

Do you offer a lifetime warranty or exchange?

We offer a lifetime exchange assurance on certified loose stones: you can trade up in value toward a new stone at any point, subject to a condition and re-certification check at the time.

Astrology & Usage

Which finger and day should I wear my Panna (emerald)?

Vedic astrology conventions generally recommend the little finger of the working hand, worn on a Wednesday morning. This is general guidance, not personalized advice — consult your astrologer for a recommendation specific to your birth chart. See our Astrology Guide for more detail.

Does the emerald need to be 'energized' before wearing?

Many traditions recommend a energizing ritual (Prana Pratishtha) before first wearing an astrological gemstone. We can share commonly followed steps on request, though this is a religious practice best guided by your own priest or astrologer.
