Will this always recommend emerald?
No. This analyzes all 9 grahas (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu) the same transparent way and shows whichever gemstone(s) your chart actually indicates — which is very often not emerald. Whichever gemstone comes up for you, we can help directly through our certified multi-gemstone catalog — we say so plainly rather than steering you toward any one gem.
Is this tool a replacement for my astrologer?
No. It calculates your actual birth chart using real astronomical formulas and shows the specific chart factors astrologers look at for gemstone suitability — but a full reading also weighs dasha timing, finer aspect rules, doshas, and your personal circumstances that this tool doesn't attempt. Treat the result as a starting point for an informed conversation with your own astrologer, not a final answer.
Why does this only support birth places in India?
Accurate chart calculation needs your birth location's exact coordinates and the correct historical time-zone offset for that moment. India has used one fixed, unambiguous offset (IST, UTC+5:30) for the lifetime of any living person, which lets us compute this reliably. Supporting births outside India requires resolving historical time-zone/daylight-saving rules correctly for every country, which we haven't built yet.
What if I don't know my exact birth time?
Birth time matters most for your ascendant and house placements — even a 10-15 minute error can shift results near a sign boundary. If you only know an approximate time, treat the ascendant/house parts of the result cautiously and lean more on your Moon sign, which is far less sensitive to small time errors.
How do you decide which gemstone to recommend?
We recommend gemstones for planets that are functional benefics for your specific ascendant — meaning they rule a house of fortune, self, or power in your chart (1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, or 10th) rather than only houses of loss or difficulty (6th, 8th, 12th). Among your qualifying planets, we rank by how much fortune-house weight they carry (9th house counts most, then 1st/5th, then the remaining kendras) and lead with the strongest as your headline recommendation, with up to two more as supporting picks — the same convention most published Vedic gemstone tools use. A planet that's a functional malefic for your ascendant is flagged as generally not recommended regardless of its current strength.

The calculation itself is stateless — nothing is saved unless you choose to submit your contact details afterward to request matching certified stones.
