Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in essentially one color — a lime-to-olive green driven by its iron content, with no known treatment to alter it. Pakistan's Kashmir/Suppat deposit produces the finest, most saturated material; peridot has also famously been recovered from meteorites, though gem-grade material is entirely mined on Earth.
