Golconda (India) Diamond

Golconda diamonds are famed for a rare Type IIa purity — essentially free of the nitrogen impurities that cause faint tints in most diamonds — giving antique Golconda stones an exceptional transparency and "whiteness" prized by collectors. The historic mines were largely exhausted by the 19th century, so genuine Golconda-origin diamonds on the market today are almost always antique or estate stones with documented provenance.
